Porsche has released new Porsche 918 RSR info regarding the race car which will compete in the 2011 24-Hour Nurburgring race. The Porsche 918 RSR race car will be based on the newly unveiled 918 Spyder concept which saw the light of day at the last Geneva auto show. Of course, the Porsche 918 RSR race car will feature various aerodynamics upgrades and other modifications in comparison to the concept it will be based on.

The concept on which the German sportcars manufacturer will build the Porsche 918 RSR, is powered by a V8 engine with 500 hp and two electric motors which add another 218 bhp to the total output of the car. This means the Porsche 918 RSR will benefit from both the 700+ hp and the fuel economy offered by the hybrid

powertrain. If the concept's tech will pass to the Porsche 918 RSR race car, it means it will have a PDK gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system.

We'll have more details on the Porsche 918 RSR as soon as they become available.
