Porsche Macan SUV

Porsche announced this week the official name of their small SUV, which will be called the Macan. Previously known as the Cajun, the baby Cayenne will probably have its world premiere soon. Even if Porsche did not officially announce it, we guess that the Macan will be premiered this year in Geneva, or at the next Frankfurt auto show. Porsche named its new SUV with the help of an Indonesian word (Macan), which means tiger. The German carmaker assures us that even if it's a small SUV, the Macan will offer everything you would expect from a Porsche. This includes sports car characteristics, an exquisite interior and high quality materials. We would add a high price too.

The Porsche Macan is just the first step in the car manufacturer's strategy to expand its line-up. Porsche's Macan SUV will enter production in 2013, in a plant in Leipzig and hopes it will have the same levels of success as its larger sibling, the Cayenne.

We'll have more details regarding the Porsche Macan in the near future. Meanwhile, watch Porsche teaser video for the Macan lower down this page.
