Both versions are longer, lower, and wider than their predecessor, as well as 100 lbs. lighter. The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera is powered by a 3.4-liter boxer engine, which develops 350 hp, and comes with the PDK double-clutch transmission. With this powertrain, the 2012 Carrera can get from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 179 mph.
The 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S is powered by a 3.8-liter boxer engine, which is good for 400 hp, and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 4.1 seconds. When equipped with the Sports Chrono Package Plus, the 2012 Carrera S is able to get from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. Its top speed is 188 mph.
The 2012 Porsche 911 price list for the USA market starts at $82,100 USD MSRP for the Carrera and at $96,400 MSRP for the Carrera S. These are the base prices of the new 911. Optional extras will add additional costs.
