Porsche revealed today during the opening of the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show the new Macan baby SUV, which is already available for ordering. The first deliveries of the Porsche Macan are going to begin in April 2014. Porsche is going to sell the Macan in three versions: the S, the Turbo and the Diesel. The Porsche Macan measures 4681 mm in length, 1923 mm in width and 1624 mm in height. It has a 2807 mm long wheelbase. The Macan has a 500-liter boot, which can be extended to 1,500 liters if you fold down the rear seats. Porsche's Macan S is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo engine that develops 340 hp (250 kW) at 5,500 - 6,500 rpm and 460 Nm of torque at 1,450 - 5,000 rpm. With this engine, the Macan S is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.4 seconds and to reach a top speed of 158 mph (254 km/h).

The Porsche Macan Diesel is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine that's good for 258 hp (190 kW) at 4,000 - 4,250 rpm and 580 Nm of torque at 1,750 - 2,500 rpm. With a top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h), the Macan diesel requires 6.3 seconds to get from nought to 62 mph (100 km/h).

The top of the range Porsche Macan Turbo has a 3.6-litre V6 biturbo engine that puts out 400 hp (294 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 550 Nm of torque at 1,350 - 4,500 rpm. The Macan Turbo can accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.8 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 165 mph (266 km/h).

The Porsche Macan comes equipped with the Traction Management (PTM) active all-wheel drive system and the PDK double-clutch transmission. In terms of efficiency, Porsche rates the Macan with a combined fuel economy ranging from 31.7 mpg (NEDC) to 46.3 mpg (NEDC), depending on the version. The Macan is also equipped with an off-road mode, which can be activated with a button at speeds between zero and 50 mph. This function optimizes the Macan's various systems to work perfectly on rough terrain. The Macan is also equipped with the Porsche Hill Control (PHC) system, the Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) system, and of course, a Sport button.

Porsche is offering the Sport Chrono package for the Macan too. It offers a sportier chassis, engine and transmission, an analogue and digital stopwatch on the dashboard, the Sport Plus button, and a Launch Control function.

Porsche is going to sell the Macan with three chassis options. One includes a steel spring design, the second a combination of the first with the PASM system, and a third one that includes an optional air suspension including leveling system, height adjustment and PASM.

The Macan comes with powerful brakes featuring disc measuring between 330 mm and 360 mm, 18- to 21-inch wheels, electro-mechanical power steering, and a panoramic roof. Porsche Macan’s safety systems include, apart from all the systems you would expect from a modern SUV, a multi-collision brake system.

The Porsche Macan's price list for the UK starts at £43,300 GBP OTR for the S and it goes up to £59,300 GBP OTR for the Turbo. The Macan Diesel is going to cost you at least £43,300 GBP OTR.
