Porsche Reveals 27,000 USD Solid Gold Fountain Pen

 »  »  »

Porsche Design revealed today their latest product, which is a fountain pen that costs no less than $27,000. At least it's made of gold. Porsche's shamelessly expensive fountain pen is called the P’3135 Solid Gold Limited Edition and it is limited to only eleven units. Porsche plans to market it in only a few of its stores starting from the middle of next month. Porsche's new fountain pen is milled out of a single piece of solid pure 14-/585 carat gold. The pen is engraved on the surface of the nib and its limited edition number is engraved (using a laser) on the barrel. Porsche's fountain pen's unique feature is its mechanism, which is hidden in the shaft. The shaft itself is coated with 14-/585 carat gold. The box in which this fountain pen is delivered features a gold-plated limitation tag.

What we're wondering at this point is whether or not anyone will ever actually use it. The people that will buy it, will probably just keep it in a display case.
