OFFICIAL: Rolls Royce presents electrci 102EX Phantom in Geneva. Oil moguls everywhere look confused. When Rolls Royce announced last week that it will premiere an electrci version of the Phantom, eveyone was taken by surprize. Today in Geneva Rolls Royce actually went an did it. They revealed the 102EX Phantom electrci experimental vehicle.

Of course, keeping with the company's tradition, the Rolls Royce 102EX Phantom features countles custom design elemnts, including an experimental type of leather called Seton Corinova and an illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy.

The bit we're most interested in is how did they manage to get such a heavu vehicle moving with

electricity only. The naturally aspirated 6.75-litre V12 petrol engine and 6-speed transkmission have been replaced in the Rolls Royce 102EX Phantom with a lithium ion battery pack and two electric motors mounted in the rear. The batteries of the electric Phantom weigh 640 kg, have a 71kWh capacity and require 20 hours to fully re-charge. What Rolls Royce forgot to mention in the official press release is just how much horsepower does the 102EX Phantom output.

Apart from the new electrci 102 EX Phantom, Rolls Royce also premiered this year at the Geneva auto

show a new induction charging technology which allows the re-charging of the batteries without any physical connection.
