Subaru coupe sketch

 »  »  »

Previously, Subaru and Toyota announced they're working together to develop a new sporty coupe. Yesterday, Toyota revealed its version on the form of the Toyota FT-86. Today, the first details of Subaru's take on the new coupe have surfaced. Autocar even managed to get the first Subaru coupe sketch. However, the future of the new Subaru coupe is still uncertain due to the fact that the company does not have the same production means as Toyota.

Two other issues regarding the new Subaru coupe is that the company has an image of a AWD rally car builder, and not a small, rear-wheel-drive coupe. The building of the Subaru coupe could also mean the company will have to share some of its most important know-how with Toyota. The Toyota FT-86 is powered by a 2.0 liter boxer engine, which definitely comes from Subaru.

If Toyota has announced the premiere of the FT-86 in Tokyo, maybe Subaru will make us a surprise and unveil their version of the coupe there.
