The British aftermarket specialists from Superchips launched today a new power upgrade for the Audi A1 1.4 TFSI. The power kit includes a remapped ECU, which adds 26 bhp and 28 Nm of torque on top of the car's standard 122 PS. Superchips says they studied the 1390cc engine and the A1's Bosch MED17 ECU and found ways of safely increasing the output of the car. As a result, the Superchips Audi A1 has 26 bhp more at 6168 rpm and 28 additional Nm from 1917 rpm. In fact, Superchips says that, in comparison to the standard vehicle, their Audi A1 has more power from as low as 2000 rpm up to the 6500 rpm rev limiter. The increase in torque can be noticed between 1500 and 6500 rpm.

With Superchips' ECU installed, the Audi A1 is

able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds, which is 1.1 seconds faster than the stock version. Superchips reckons that their A1 will most probably go past the standard, 126 mph, top speed of the model. However, they did not manage to test the maximum speed of their A1. Superchips's Audi A1 has a fuel consumption of 45 mpg.

The new power kit from Superchips can be fitted to both, the 6-speed manual and 7-speed semi-automatic S-Tronic versions of the A1, at a price of £455.00 GBP, including VAT.
