Toyota has released a video showing for the first time their carbon fiber loom. The clip gives a glimpse of the machine Toyota uses to weave its carbon fiber components. This carbon fiber loom was used by Toyota to build various body parts of the new Lexus LFA supercar. Some of these parts include the A-pillars. Toyota was able to build those components thanks to the loom's ability to weave the carbon fiber in three dimensions and created 3D objects. the Japanese carmaker plans to use this carbon fiber loom to build various other components that will help bring down the weight of its models, which in turn will increase efficiency and reduce fuel consumption.
Initially, Toyota did not want to show this clip, as they were afraid it will reveal some of its
secrets to the company's competitors.
