Various North American sources are reporting today that the Toyota / Subaru co-developed FT-86 will actually be sold under the Scion brand. Apparently, the Toyota Scion FT-86 price will be around the 25,000 USD mark when it will go on sale next year. The Toyota Scion FT-86 is expected to have its global premiere at the next New York Auto Show in 2011, before it will go on sale the same year.
The Toyota Scion FT-86 will be a 2+2 seats coupe with a rear-wheel-drive architecture, that's becoming more and more of a driver's car. The Toyota Scion FT-86 will be powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder naturally-aspirated boxer engine developed by Subaru. The exact power output of the Toyota Scion FT-86 is not known at the
moment, but we expect it to be on the high side.
The Toyota Scion FT-86 will be made available both in the USA and in Europe, however, the Subaru will probably be sold in EU only.
We'll have more details on the Toyota Scion FT-86 as soon as they become available.
