Recently, the production version of the Toyota FT-86 was spied during testing on the race track. Unfortunately, Toyota's FT-86 prototype is completely covered with camo tape. However, the car maker says that the production version of the FT-86 will keep a close resemblance to the Toyota FT-86 II concept.
The FT-86 is the result of the collaboration between Toyota and Subaru, and it will also be available as the Scion, under the name FR-S. The FT-86 is powered by a Subaru developed 2.0-liter normally aspirated boxer engine, equipped with a direct injection system, and a port injection. So far, the exact output of this engine has not been announced.
The FT-86 will have a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive architecture and it will go on sale with a choice between a 6-speed manual and an automatic transmission.
