Video: Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 Record Nurburgring Lap

 »  »  »

The ZL1 is the most powerful, and fastest, road going version of the Chevrolet Camaro ever produced. Recently, Chevrolet announced that the Camaro ZL1 managed to conquer the Nurburgring, with a record lap time of 7 minutes and 41 seconds (7:41:27). This puts the ZL1 in a whole different league, and on the same level as the Porsche 911 Turbo S and the Lamborghini Murcielago. In other words, it's not a "straight line performance" only, American muscle car anymore, but a full blown supercar, which can take a corner faster than you can say "Bumblebee".

Chevrolet says that the ZL1 used for setting the record lap time was completely stock, with no performance modifications whatsoever. The driver was Aaron Link, a "Camaro Performance Engineer".

The Chevy Camaro ZL1 had its world debut this year at the Chicago auto show. It's powered by a 6.2-liter supercharged LSA engine, which sends 550 hp and 677 Nm of torque to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
