Whisky Biofuel Powered Cars

 »  »  »

According to a new patent filed by the Edinburgh Napier University, the whisky biofuel powered cars are not far from reality. Edinburgh Napier's Biofuel Research Center says a new type of the stuff can be obtained from whisky and could power future cars without the need of any modifications. The research program that concluded that cars could run on whisky biofuel was funded with 260,000 GBP by the Scottish Enterprise's Proof of Concept program, and used whisky distilling by-products from Diageo's Glenkinchie Distillery.

The ethanol already gives more power than regular gasoline. The whisky biofuel however, is said to offer even more hp - up to 30% more than regular ethanol. Who said alcohol and driving don't mix?

Currently, the University is studying the commercial opportunity of offering the new whisky biofuel at petrol pumps.

If you think about it, this could also have the potential of reducing drinking and driving. Why put it down your throat when it will offer 30% more fun if you put it in your gas tank?
