Netherlands To Ban Non Electric Cars By 2025

 »  »  »

Various sources are reporting that the Dutch lawmakers passed a motion this Monday that will ban the sale of non-electric cars, including petrol and diesel ones, by the year 2025. Netherlands aims to make all the cars on their roads electric within the next decade. This could include even hybrid vehicles. Currently, this motion has passed the vote of the lower house of the Dutch parliament. It still has to pass senate's vote. Effectively, this law will ban the sale of all new petrol and diesel cars starting from the year 2025. However, the cars sold until 2025, will probably still be allowed on Dutch roads.

This law was proposed by the Dutch Labour Party and initially, it aimed to ban petrol and diesel cars altogether, including the ones sold until the year 2025. However, they soon backed down.

We will have more details about Netherlands' ban on petrol and diesel cars as soon as they are available.
