| Hyperloop One is a new company that promises that in the future, public transportation will be able to reach speeds of up to 700 mph. Yesterday, the company tested their first prototype in the desert outside Las Vegas, USA. The test vehicle managed to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just one second and it reached a speed of 300 mph. Hyperloop's new propulsion technology managed to generate as much as 2.5 Gs at the start. Hyperloop One says that an aerodynamically designed vehicle is going to be able to reach a top speed of 700 mph while travelling in a low pressure tube. Hyperloop's new propulsion technology is using a linear-electric motor. The reason the pod stops in the sand is that the company hasn't designed any brakes for it yet. Apparently, Hyperloop One is expecting to use this technology for the transportation of goods by year 2019. They expect to use their new tech for public transportation a few years later.
