In case you live in the British Columbia, Canada, you should think twice before texting and driving. The RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) has just acquired this huge camera rig, which is going to be used for busting drivers for texting. This massive camera is able to catch distracted up to a distance of 1.2 kilometers. This DSLR camera uses a special a 50-millimetre lens and it has a resolution of 24.2 megapixels. The RCMP says their new gadget is going to be used especially at intersections and red lights, where it is still illegal to use your mobile phone, even if you car is stopped. after taking a photo, then the officer is able to stop the driver further down the road.

The RCMP says that if they're going to see someone looking down at their lap, they'll probably have an office close to that intersection.

The officer will simply come your car to see whether or not you have an electronic device in your lap.

In the British Columbia, the penalty for distracted driving is $543 for a first offence and $888 for a second one.
