New 2011 Mercedes SLK info has surfaced today as the next generation model has been spied again during testing. The new spy photos have confirmed the next gen 2011 Mercedes SLK will have a folding hard-top and an SLS AMG inspired front fascia. The images show, although the prototype is covered in black tape, that the 2011 Mercedes SLK will have a more aggressive front end, with LED daytime running lights, new headlamps and a new front grille.
Newly released technical details say the 2011 Mercedes SLK will weigh around 100 kg less than its predecessor. This will reduce its fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, together with improving its performance and handling.
The engine line-up of the 2011 Mercedes SLK will include a 4-cylinder gasoline engine developing around 180 hp and probably a diesel engine as well. The 2011 Mercedes SLK AMG could be powered by the company's new 5.5-liter V8 biturbo engine developing more than 500 hp. However this could be a little to much for the small 2011 Mercedes SLK. Some reports suggest the power of the AMG version could come from a V6 engine, but this is still just speculation.
