Various sources are reporting today the first details of the next, 2011 Opel Astra OPC. Apparently, the 2011 Opel Astra OPC looks to play with the big boys of the hot hatch market, the Megane RS and the Focus RS. Yes, the 2011 Opel Astra OPC will get a 300 hp engine under its hood so it will be able to keep up with the new RS toys. The 300 hp of the next 2011 Opel Astra OPC will be more than 60 bhp over the current version of the hatch, which means it will be a pretty serious ride. Unfortunately, it will also be front-wheel-drive which means that torque steer will be present.
The power of the 2011 Opel Astra OPC will come from a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine and the car will be equipped with an electronic
differential. Could this mean we'll see the next 2011 Opel Astra OPC in the WRC?
The new power hatch will also have a new aerodynamic body kit, improved suspension and bigger brakes. The car will most probably be based on the 3-door version of the current model.
The 2011 Opel Astra OPC price has not been announced yet, but the new model is expected to go on sale sometime next year.
