Opel Astra OPC Extreme Concept

Opel released today the first teaser image of the Astra OPC Extreme Concept, which is going to have its world debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show this March. The Opel Astra OPC Extreme previews the fastest ever production version of the model. Yes! The Astra OPC Extreme will go into production, but Opel is going to build it in limited numbers. The Astra OPC Extreme follows the OPC X-treme from 12 years ago, which was built in just one unit. The new Opel Astra Extreme is going to have a different fate however. Even though it's a racing car, it is going to spawn a street legal version. The Astra OPC Extreme is based on the OPC Cup race car from the Nurburgring Endurance Championship (VLN).

In comparison to the standard Astra OPC, the Extreme version is going to feature various carbon fiber parts, meant to lower its weight. As you can imagine, they will also increase its price considerably. So far, Opel does not say anything about its engine. However, they do suggest it's going to have the same 280 hp output as the regular Astra OPC.

The Opel Astra OPC Extreme is going to be equipped with a roll cage, racing bucket seats, and six-point harnesses. This means you'll be able to go from the street straight onto the track and into the race.

We'll have more details about the Opel Astra OPC Extreme as soon as Opel makes them available. As you can imagine, there's going to be a Vauxhall (UK) version of the Astra OPC Extreme too.
