Opel announced today the Astra Copacabana special edition, which features real grass upholstery. The grass used to make the upholstery of the Astra Copacabana was harvested from the famous Maracana Stadium in Brazil. Opel is offering the Astra Copacabana to celebrate the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Apart from the grass upholstery, the Astra Copacabana also features the Brazilian flag on the roof, palm trees and dancing lines along the doors. The power of the Astra Copacabana comes from a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that develops 200 hp/147 kW. With this engine, the Copacabana version of the Opel Astra is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.9 seconds. At the interior, Opel's engineers fitted the Astra's footwells with authentic Copacabana sand.

Every unit of the car comes with a pair of complementary flip-flops.

The Opel Astra Copacabana's horn comes with Samba and Vuvuzela tones. The hatchback is also fitted with a beverage vending machine that mixes up ice cold Caipirinhas during the drive. This very special Astra uses Cachaca that goes directly into the tank as a turbo cocktail. The Astra Copacabana's price is set at 24,444.44 EUR and it goes on sale today, April Fool's Day.
