According to Autocar, the brand's chief designer said the new Astra will give birth to a VXR model - the Opel Astra Sport Hatch - which will very much resemble this sketch. The Opel Astra Sport Hatch will probably become available in showrooms from 2011 and will have a more radical design than the latest 5-door version. The Opel Astra Sport Hatch will have a lower roof line and a more aggressive look.
The new Opel Astra Sport Hatch will offer improved aerodynamics and in turn, better efficiency.
Some of the design lines of the Opel Astra Sport Hatch that where developed in the wind tunnel include the front bumper which will direct air on the side of the car. The rear will also be modified to reduce the drag that forms behind hatchbacks.
