Chevrolet announced today that they managed to set a new Nurburgring lap record with the latest, 2012 Corvette ZR1. Chevy also released a video of their successful attempt and announced they will soon release a clip of the lap they did in a Corvette Z06. Chevrolet's 2012 Corvette ZR1 set a new Nurburgring lap record of 7:19.63 which is more than 6 seconds faster than the previous time set by Corvette in 2008.
One of the major advantages of the 2012 Corvette ZR1 over the previous model are its new optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires, which offer better grip and improved handling. They are optimized for warm and dry conditions. The 2012 ZR1 also comes with Corvette's Performance Traction Management (PTM) technology
which is basically a torque management system. Corvette's engineers believe that the 2012 ZR1 offers an 8% increased lateral acceleration, to more than 1.1g.
