Corvette ZR1 Commercial

Chevrolet launched today a new Corvette ZR1 commercial that announces their participation in the 2011 ALMS Season. Most of probably don't know this, but Chevy's racing Corvette ZR1 is actually less powerful than the road going model. Chevrolet had to tone it down to meet the regulations of ALMS.

The standard, factory version of the Corvette ZR1, is powered by a 6.2 liter LS9 V8 engine that sends 647 horsepower and 819 Nm of torque to the rear wheels. Chevy's official figures say the Corvette ZR1 is able to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and that it needs only 7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 mph (160 km/h). It's top speed is rated at 205 mph (330 km/h).

In the new advert, Chevrolet takes a swing at their ALMS competition, including Porsche and BMW. Chevy's point is that they had to reduce the output of the racing ZR1, just to make it a fair race.
