Lotus recently released the first commercial / promotional video for the latest generation 2012 Exige S. The advert, called the Duel, shows the 2012 Exige S drifting its way against a boxer, maybe the Porsche Boxster? Who knows? In any case, the new 2012 Lotus Exige S is definitely a worthy opponent for Porsche's Boxster. It's powered by a 3.5-liter V6 supercharged engine, which develops 345 hp at 7000 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. This is 35 hp more than the 2009 Porsche Boxster, which also has a smaller, 3.4-liter engine.
The official specifications say that the 2012 Lotus Exige S is able to get from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and that it has a top speed of 274 km/h / 170 mph.
If we compare these figures with the ones of the Boxster, the Porsche comes again on the second place. It requires 4.9 seconds to get from 0 to 100 km/h.
