Last night in Frankfurt Lotus took the wraps off the latest generation 2012 Exige S. The 2012 Lotus Exige S comes with an updated exterior and interior, and an upgraded engine. The 2 seater, mid engined, rear wheel drive 2012 Exige S is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 supercharged engine, equipped with Dual-Variable Valve Timing and direct fuel injection, which outputs 350 PS / 257.5 kW / 345 hp at 7000 rpm and 400 Nm / 295 lb ft of torque at 4500 rpm. The official specs list released by Lotus says that the 2012 Exige S accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.8 seconds and from 0 to 160 km/h in 7.9 seconds. The tops peed of the new 2012 Exige S (supercharged) is rated at 274 km/h / 170 mph. The new version of the Exige S emits 199 g/km of CO2.

Lotus equips the new 2012 Exige S with its Dynamic Performance Management (DPM) system, which takes care of handling and some of the sports car's safety function. The Exige's DPM includes the following systems: Corner Brake Control (CBC), Drag Torque Control (DTC), Electronic Differential Lock (EDL), Traction Control System (TCS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), and the Understeer Recognition.



Lotus fits the 2012 Exige S with a new aerodynamics package, which includes a new front splitter, and a rear spoiler. For the interior of the new Exige S, Lotus is offering two packages: Premium, which offers comfort and style options, and the Premium Sport, which optimizes the cabin for driving.

Other features of the 2012 Lotus Exige S include a set of bespoke Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tires, which come as standard, and the Race Pack option, which includes the 'Race' mode with a Launch Control function.
