Mercedes released today the images and details of the new generation 2012 M Class, which comes with a fresh design and new engines. The 2012 Mercedes ML will be launched on the USA market this autumn, after its premiere that will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The price and specifications of the new 2012 M Class will be announced at a later date.
The most visible changes brought by the 2012 Mercedes ML are in the design department. Mercedes gave the 2012 ML a new front fascia, with re-designed front grille, headlights and bumper. The 2012 M Class also comes with new LED daytime running lights and more sculpted sides. Major styling differences are also visible at the rear of the SUV.
The 2012 Mercedes ML has new tail lights, a rear roof spoiler and rear bumper, which also shows a hint of a diffuser.
With the 2012 ML, Mercedes went on the path of the S Class, giving it a luxury feel with the help of wood and leather styling accents. Some of the new features of the 2012 Mercedes ML include a panoramic glass roof and an updated command system. The options list of Merc's 2012 ML also includes a Harman Kardon Logic 7 audio entertainment systems and Internet access.
The 2012 Mercedes ML now includes a few new diesel engines. The 2012 ML250 has a 2.1-liter 4-cylinder diesel rated at 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque. The 2012 Mercedes ML350 Bluetec is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine developing 258 hp and 618 Nm of torque. The third novelty in the 2012 M Class range is the ML350 BlueEfficiency which comes with a 3.5-liter V6 unit, equipped with direct injection, that has an output of 306 hp and 369 Nm of torque.
The 2012 Mercedes ML will be put on sale with the 7G-Tronic Plus 7-speed automatic transmission, with two-wheel-drive and with the company's
4Matic all-wheel-drive system. In the near future Mercedes will offer a hybrid version of the M Class, together with the high performance 2012 ML63 AMG.
For those customers interested in using the 2012 M Class for off-road activities, Mercedes is offering a special package, that includes self-leveling Airmatic suspension with selective damping and a special transmission with 6 different settings.
Mercedes is offering, as optional extras, a wide range of safety systems for the 2012 ML. These include Speed Limit Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control, Active Park Assist, Intelligent Light System, Night View Assist Plus with automatic person recognition, reverse camera and autonomous braking.
