Mitsubishi released today the first image and the initial details of the future generation 2013 Outlander SUV. The 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander will be premiered at the 2012 Geneva auto show, before going on sale towards the end of this summer. The Mitsubishi Outlander 2013 will be sold in Europe, North America, Russia, China, Japan and Oceania. Its price list will be announced at a later date. Mitsubishi's 2013 Outlander mid-size crossover features a completely new exterior design, various technological innovations, and a fresh new interior.
For the 2013 Outlander, Mitsubishi kept the overall size of the current generation model. However, they gave the new Outlander a completely new look.
It features newly designed headlights, which seem to integrate a set of LED daytime running lights, new fog lights, a re-designed bumper and grille. Even though Mitsubishi released only an image showing the 2013 Outlander's front end, you may notice that it looks remarkably similar to the Mitsubishi Concept PX MiEV II. This means that the PX MiEV II concept's rear end might give us a clue about the 2013 Outlander's rear styling.
The 2013 Mitsubishi Outlander will come with a re-styled interior, with a new dashboard and higher quality materials (padded surfaces, soft-touch finish, gloss black and silver accents). The Outlander 2013 will also come with ergonomic steering wheel controls and a high-resolution display.
In Europe, the Mitsubishi Outlander 2013 will be sold with a choice between two engines: a 2.0-liter MIVEC petrol and a 2.2-liter MIVEC Clean Diesel. It will be available with both a 2WD and a 4WD system, which will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. To improve the fuel economy of the 2012 Outlander, Mitsubishi will also equip it with an Auto Stop & Go system and an "eco-friendly driving system" which warns the driver when his / her driving style is not exactly efficient.
We mentioned earlier that the 2013 Outlander and the PX MiEV II share the same platform. Mitsubishi announced it will launch an EV-based plug-In hybrid version of the Outlander in 2013. The Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid will have a range of up to 800 km and a CO2 emissions level of just 50 g/km.
