The Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV II will be premiered at the 2011 Tokyo Auto Show, bringing a new version of the manufacturer's plug-in hybrid mid-size SUV. Mitsubishi says that the PX-MiEV II concept is a mid-size PHEV which will be able to offer a long cruising distance. To power, the Concept PX MiEV II, Mitsubishi uses a hybrid system, which includes a 2.0-liter MIVEC 4-cylinder petrol engine and two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors (one for each axle). Each motor is good for 60kW, while the internal combustion engine outputs 70kW.

When it comes to hybrids and electric vehicles, the main concern is their range. The Mitsubishi PX-MiEV II has a range of more than 50 km on electricity only and it can travel for 800 km in hybrid mode.

The PX-MiEV II's combined fuel consumption is rated at more than 60 km/l (or 1.6 liters / 100 km).

The Mitsubishi PX MiEV II can be operated in Battery Drive Mode, to use the electric motor only, or in Battery Charge Mode, to do the obvious.

Another highlight of Mitsubishi's PX-MiEV II is the use of the S-AWC (Super-All Wheel Control) advanced traction control system, which was made famous by the Evolution X.

Mitsubishi's engineers managed to mate the S-AWC to a unique twin-motor four-wheel-drive system, to offer superior levels of handling.

The Mitsubishi PX-MiEV II concept measures 4660 mm in length, 1830 mm in width and 1680 mm in height. Currently, the PX-MiEV II is in an advance concept stage, however, Mitsubishi will probably put it into production in the near future.
