GM revealed today the new 2013 Opel Astra sedan, which will be marketed as a Vauxhall in the United Kingdom. The new 2013 Opel Astra four-door sedan measures 4,658 mm in length, 1,814 mm in width and 1,476 mm in height. With a 2,685-mm wheelbase, the 2013 Astra sedan offers a 460-liter boot, which is 90 liters more than the 5-door hatchback. By folding the 60:40 split rear bench, the 2013 Astra sedan is able to offer up to 1,010 liters of luggage capacity. In terms of engines, Opel offers four petrol units (74 kW/100 hp to 132 kW/180 hp) and three diesel engines (70 kW/95 hp to 96 kW/130 hp). The 2013 Astra sedan will be sold with a six-speed automatic transmission on the gasoline versions. Early next year, the 2013 Astra sedan is going to be available with a 1.6-liter SIDI ECOTEC four-cylinder gasoline engine, which features spark ignition direct injection and turbocharging.

The most efficient versions of the 2013 Astra sedan are powered by the 1.7 CDTI ecoFLEX engine (81 kW/110 hp or 96 kW/130 hp). They feature a Start/Stop system and are rated with a fuel consumption of 3.7 liters per 100 kilometers and a 99g/km CO2 emissions level.

In terms of design, this time Opel nailed it. In comparison to the previous Astra sedan, the 2013 version is a big step forward. This time, the rear of the car does not look like it was glued on the back of a hatchback. It's completely integrated into the car and the line flow seamlessly.

As far as technology goes, the 2013 Astra Sedan features Advanced Forward Lighting (AFL+) with bi-xenon headlights, an adaptive FlexRide chassis and ergonomic AGR seats. It looks like Opel went to greater lengths to ensure the comfort of everybody inside the car.

The world premiere of the 2013 Opel Astra Sedan will take place at the Moscow Auto Salon 2012 (August 29 - September 9). The new version will probably go on sale soon after. Its price has not been announced yet.
