2014 Hyundai Equus

Hyundai continues its offensive on the premium market segment with the 2014 Equus. In the last years, Hyundai struggled to offer more quality with their vehicles, but there's going to be some time before customers will see it as premium brand. You can't really get up and step into the ring with the big boys like Mercedes, BMW and Audi. In fact, the front end (especially the headlights) of the 2014 Hyundai Equus does seem to resemble the one of the Mercedes S Class. Hyundai's official press release even makes a comparison between the 2014 Equus, the 2013 Lexus LS 460 and the 2013 Mercedes S550. Yes, the Equus does get close to the S550 Merc, but there's a lot more to a Mercedes than a few specifications. Even though Hyundai made only minor changes to the Equus, its 2014 version does come with a few novelties.

At the interior, the 2014 Hyundai Equus shows a new instrument panel and center console, a new steering wheel, and a new rear console. Hyundai also equips the 2014 Equus with an ivory leather upholstery and various genuine wood trim parts. For the 2014 Equus, Hyundai is offering 7-inch TFT LCD cluster display for the Signature trim level or a 12.3-inch, fully-digital TFT LCD cluster display for the Ultimate version of the model. There's also a 9.2-inch upper center stack LCD display. Other interior equipment of the new Hyundai Equus (2014) includes smart cruise control with stop/start, proximity smart key, and dual 9.2-inch rear seat entertainment monitors.

The 2014 Hyundai Equus continues to be powered by 5.0-liter Tau DOHC V8 engine, which is good for 429 hp at 6,400 rpm and 376 lb.-ft. of torque at 5,000 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed transmission with SHIFTRONIC that also offers a manual shifting mode. Hyundai's official specifications say that the new Equus (2014) offers 15 mph in the city, 23 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg on the combined cycle.

For safety purposes, Hyundai equips the 2014 Equus with Rear Cross-traffic Alert, Blind Spot Detection (BSD), a Heads-up display (HUD) and a multi-view camera system.

The price of the 2014 Hyundai Equus has not been disclosed yet, but you can find all the other specifications and details of the new version of the sedan here.
