The Hyundai Veloster Race Concept was premiered today at the 2012 Australian auto show in Sydney. Hyundai developed the Veloster Race Concept so that it would comply with all the FIA and CAMS regulations for tarmac rally. Hyundai says it's possible to start entering such events starting from next year. Hyundai also says that with minor modifications, the Veloster Race Concept would be suitable for Australia Production GT, Australia Rally Championship and Asia Pacific Rally competitions. The Hyundai Veloster Race is powered by a 1.6-litre turbo engine equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger. Its output has not been announced yet, but we reckon it should be around the 300 hp mark. The power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. The Race Veloster comes with stainless steel hi-flow exhaust system, Alcon competition brakes, a DMS 4-Way adjustable suspension and Super Pro roll control suspension bushes.

In terms of aerodynamics, the Veloster Race is equipped with new carbon mirrors, a bespoke rear wing and a new front lip spoiler. At the interior, Hyundai equipped the Veloster Race with Recaro Spa Hans carbon seats, multipoint 3-inch seat belts, a Sparco race steering wheel and an Anti-glare dash board.
