Porsche revealed today the updated 2014 Panamera Diesel, which is going to have its world debut in a few days' time at the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA). The 2014 Porsche Panamera Diesel is powered by the same 3.0-liter V6 engine as its predecessor, but its output has been increased by 50 hp to 300 bhp (221 kW) at 4000 rpm. The 2014 Panamera Diesel's maximum torque output has also been increased by 100 nm to 650 Nm between 1750 rpm and 2500 rpm. This means that its performance has also been increased. The new Porsche Panamera Diesel (2014) is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 6.0 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 161 mph (259 km/h). Apart from the extra umpf, the new Panamera Diesel (2014) comes equipped with the controlled rear-axle differential lock with Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) as standard.
To increase the horsepowers developed by the 2014 Diesel Panamera, Porsche revised its crankshaft and pistons and gave it a water-cooled turbocharger. The new turbo has a higher boost pressure of 3 bar (instead of 2.5 bar). The extra hp of the new Diesel Panamera (2014) also results in a higher towing capability of 2600 kg.
In terms of efficiency, the 2014 Panamera Diesel is rated with a NEDC fuel consumption of 6.4 litres/100 km and a 169 g/km CO2 emissions. To get the improved efficiency, Porsche revised the eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission of the Diesel Panamera. Their suspension has also been revised.
