Porsche released today the specifications and the first images of the new Panamera Diesel. The main highlight of Porsche's new diesel Panamera is its engine. The new version of the Gran Turismo is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine developing 250 hp (184 kW) between 3,800 rpm and 4,400 rpm and 550 Nm of torque from 1,750 rpm to 2,750 rpm. The engine of the new Panamera Diesel is mated to an eight-speed Tiptronic S transmission and a rear-wheel drive system. In performance numbers, the diesel Panamera requires 6.8 seconds for the 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) acceleration and has a top speed of 242 km/h (150 mph).

The new engine of the Porsche Panamera Diesel features various technological innovations, such as common rail direct injection through piezo

valves at a pressure of 2000 bar, electrically controlled variable geometry turbochargers (VGTs), controlled exhaust gas recirculation, oxidation catalyst and particle filter.

Porsche says the new Panamera Diesel has a fuel consumption of 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers and a 167 g/km CO2 emissions level when used with low friction tires. On standard tires, Porsche's diesel Panamera has a 6.5 l/100 km fuel economy with a 172 g/km CO2 emissions. Porsche says that the 80-liter fuel tank of the Panamera Diesel is enough for a 1,200 kilometers drive.

The equipment list of the Porsche Panamera Diesel includes an adaptive air suspension as an alternative to the standard steel spring suspension.

The base price for the Porsche Panamera Diesel is set at 80,183 Euro in Germany. Porsche will start delivering the Panamera Diesel from August 2011.
