Toyota revealed over the weekend the updated 2014 4Runner SUV, which will go on sale in the near future. The 2014 Toyota 4Runner is powered by a new 4.0-liter V6 engine that's good for 270 hp and 278 lb.-ft. of torque. The new engine is equipped with Dual independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). All versions of the new Toyota 4Runner (2014) come equipped with a 5-speed ECT-I automatic transmission. Toyota is going to sell the 2014 4Runner with a choice between a rear wheel 4x2 drive system, a part-time 4x4 or a full-time multi-mode 4x4 with a locking center differential. Toyota says that the new 4Runner (2014) has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway for 4x2 models, and 17 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway for 4x4 versions.

They also rate the 2014 4Runner with a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 pounds. The new 4Runner (2014) comes equipped as standard with an integrated tow-hitch receiver and a wiring harness.

Toyota sells the 2014 4Runner in three trim levels: SR5, Limited and Trail (maximum off-road capability). The SR5 and Limited models offer the choice of a third row of seats.

The new 4Runner (2014) comes with a fresh new exterior design, and an upgraded interior.

It features a hood scoop, chrome design accents, a roof rack, LED DRLs, and a choice between 17- and 20-inch wheels. For the interior of the 2014 4Runner, Toyota is offering a leather steering wheel, a multi-information display, an Eco-Driving feedback system, a compass indicator and air conditioning. Its second row of seats has a 40/20/40 configuration.

For a better off-road capability, Toyota gives the 2014 4Runner a double-wishbone independent front suspension, a variable-flow rack-and-pinion steering, coil springs, and a four-link rear suspension. The Limited version comes with the X-REAS suspension system, which improves the ride's comfort and control. The 2014 Toyota 4Runner SR5 and Trail have a two-speed, part-time four-wheel-drive system, while the Limited model comes with a full-time, four-wheel-drive system with a locking center differential and a three-mode, center console-mounted switch.
