To celebrate the company's 50th anniversary, Alpina revealed today a limited series version of the B5 and of the B6 Biturbo. Both, the Alpina B5 Biturbo Edition 50 and the Alpina B6 Biturbo Edition 50 are powered by the same engine. It is a modified version of the 4.4-liter V8 engine that has been tuned to develop 441 kW (600 hp) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. This makes them the most powerful cars ever built by Alpina. Both cars need 4.2 seconds to reach the 62 mph (100 km/h) mark and both of them have a top speed of 330 km/h (204 mph). Alpina's powerkit for these special 5 Series and 6 Series Bimmers includes modified turbos that deliver up to 1.2 bar of pressure. Apart from the turbochargers, Alpina optimized the air flow, added large-volume water-cooled intercoolers, a large-capacity oil radiator and supplementary coolant radiator, and light-weight pistons.

The bespoke body kit of the Alpina B5 Biturbo Edition 50 and of the Alpina B6 Biturbo Edition 50 includes new front and rear aprons, side skirts and a boot lid spoiler. There's also a new set of 20-inch alloys, blue brake calipers, and an Acrapovic light-weight titanium exhaust system.

At the interior, the Edition 50 B5 and B6 features hand-crafted sports seats covered in black leather, piano black trim parts, and various other elements meant to offer a feeling of luxury. Alpina announced that the price of the Edition 50 starts at £86,850. These special B5 and B6 Alpinas are going to be available in limited numbers.
