Alpina revealed today during the opening day of this year's IAA auto show in Frankfurt the new D3 Biturbo (2014), which is based on the latest generation of the BMW 3 Series sedan and Touring. The 2014 Alpina D3 Biturbo BMW 3 Series is powered by a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder diesel engine with bi-turbocharging, common rail direct injection and variable turbine geometry. The engine of the new 2014 Alpina D3 Biturbo is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. With this powertrain, the new Alpina D3 Biturbo (2014) has an output of 350 bhp (257 kW) at 4,000 rpm and 700 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm and 3,000 rpm. In terms of performance figures, the new 2014 D3 Biturbo from Alpina is able to get from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 278 km/h.

If you're worried about efficiency, we'll have to mention that the modified 3 Series Bimmer is rated with a fuel economy of 5.3 liters per 100 km and with a 139 g/km CO2 emissions level.

To get the extra performance out of BMW's engine, Alpina installed a large-volume intercooler, optimized inlets and outlets, two radiators, a bespoke exhaust manifold, and an NSC catalytic converter (NOx storage catalytic converter). The 2014 Alpina D3 Biturbo is also fitted with four tailpipes developed by Akrapovic.

The new Alpina D3 Biturbo (2014) sits on a set of 19-inch alloys and MICHELIN Pilot Sport tires, electronically adjustable dampers, additional springs and anti-roll bars and an 18-inch high-performance brake system with 370 mm discs / 4-piston calipers at the front and 345 mm discs /2-piston calipers at the rear. Alpina equips the D3 Biturbo with the Drive Performance Control system, which allows the driver to choose between four settings (Eco Pro, Comfort, Sport, Sport+) for the transmission and suspension systems.

Optionally, the Alpina D3 Biturbo Touring can be ordered with BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system. In this case, its 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint time drops to 4.5 seconds.

The Alpina D3 Biturbo aftermarket program for the BMW 3 Series also includes an aerodynamically-optimized front spoiler, sport seats, climate control, Xenon headlights, door sills, a blue instrument cluster, a hand-stitched sports steering wheel and various other parts.

Alpina is going to announce the price of the new D3 Biturbo at a later date.
