Recently, the journalists from AutoExpress put the Audi RS3 against its Bavarian rival, the BMW 1 Series M, in a head-to-head battle on the race track. The main difference between the two German sports cars is their drivetrain. The Audi RS3 comes with the company's Quattro all-wheel-drive system, while the BMW 1 Series M has a traditional rear-wheel-drive setup. In terms of power output, the Ingolstadt hatchback / Sportback and the Bavarian coupe are very similar.
Audi's RS3 is powered by a 2.5-liter TFSI engine, mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission, which develops 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The RS3 requires 4.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) and is limited to a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
The BMW 1 Series M is powered by a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine, coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission, which is good for 335 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Same as the Audi, the 1 Series M Bimmer has a top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h) and a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) sprint of 4.9 seconds.
