Audi announced that the racing version of the new, high performance, TT RS, goes on sale today, just in time to be available for the 2012 season. The Audi TT RS Racing was developed quattro GmbH in collaboration with Technical Development of AUDI AG, and it will compete in the SP4T class of the VLN Endurance Championship. The racing version of the TT RS is front wheel drive and it's powered by the same 2.5-litre five-cylinder turbocharged engine as the standard, street legal model. The power output in the TT RS racing however, has been increased to 279 kW (380 hp). The engine of the racing TT RS is mated to a sequential six-speed transmission with paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.
Apart from the more powerful engine, Audi's TT RS
also comes with new aerodynamics, which create real downforce, an adjustable suspension, a roll cage, bucket seats and all the other goodies you would expect to find on a full blown racing machine.
The Audi TT RS Racing completed its testing phase and managed to grab a class win at this year's 24-hour race on the Nurburgring-Nordschleife in June.
The Audi TT RS Racing price is 180,000 Euros (net), for which you'll also receive the Ingolstadt manufacturer's support and experience with the R8 LMS.
