As you know, the new series of Top Gear started last weekend, and in the first episode, Jeremy Clarkson reviews the latest M Car - the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. Mr. Clarkson test drives the 1 Series M Bimmer on the Top Gear track and he absolutely loves it. Aside from the usual tire smoking action, Jezza also puts the 1 Series M Coupe in a drag race against two of its rivals: the Porsche Cayman R and the Lotus Evora S.
The BMW 1 Series M is powered by a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine taken from a Z4, which has been tuned to develop 335 hp and 450 Nm of torque. BMW's 1 Series M can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds, but its limited to a top speed of 250 km/h.
The Lotus Evora S is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine developing 350 PS and 400 Nm of torque. The Evora S is capable of getting from 0 to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds and has a top speed of 172 mph.
Finally, the Porsche Cayman R has a 3.4-litre six-cylinder unit, with an output of 330 hp and Porsche says it can get from 0 to 62 mph in 4.9 seconds when equipped with the PDK automatic transmission.
