The first BMW 1 Series M review video surfaced the web today, showing a test session done on public roads. BMW's new M car is powered by a 3.0-liter, inline 6-cylinder engine developing 335 hp and 450 Nm of torque. BMW says that the new 1 Series M coupe is able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (150 km/h) in just 4.9 seconds. Its top speed is limited to 155 mph (250 km/h). If you're worried about its environmental impact, the BMW 1 Series M coupe has a 29.4 mpg fuel consumption and a 224 g/km CO2 emissions level. In case the 450 Nm of torque is not enough for you (this is more than the M3), BMW also gave the 1 Series M an overboost function, which adds another 50 Nm for a total of 500 Nm.
BMW says that the 1 Series M will run the quarter
mile in just 13.2 seconds. We figure that with a little bit of tuning, the new 1 Series M could be a 10 seconds car.
The base price for a BMW 1 Series M Coupe is 50,500 EUR (39,990 GBP in the UK). In terms of competition from other manufacturers, there really isn't one.
