BMW 5 Series Hybrid 535i

 »  »  »

The BMW 5 Series Hybrid has recently been spied during testing. The BMW 5 Series Hybrid prototype caught on camera wears both the 535i badges and a small sticker saying "Hybrid Test Vehicle". In other words, this could be a hoax. However, a BMW 5 Series Hybrid is not completely out of the question. If this is the real deal, it means the BMW 535i Hybrid will have a 3.0-liter 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine coupled with an electric motor. Early speculations say the BMW 535i Hybrid will have a 54 PS (40 kW) electric motor and that it will come equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Hybrids are usually developed for efficiency, so why put the biggest engine in the model range in the hybrid? Only time will tell if this is the real BMW 5 Series Hybrid.

The alleged BMW 5 Series Hybrid prototypes were spotted in Munich, Germany and they pretty much looked the same as the regular 535i. The only difference is the sticker we mentioned.

We'll have more details on the BMW 5 Series Hybrid as soon, and if, they will become available.
