According to a recent rumor, the BMW Gran Coupe concept will go on to become the 2012 6 Series, and not the new 8 Series as it was previously thought. The BMW Gran Coupe, or the new 2012 BMW 6 Series will go into production the same year and will have a lower stance than the current version. The actual production car will most probably have a few exterior styling differences in comparison to the concept, but it will follow the general design lines of the BMW Gran Coupe concept.
As far as the engines go, there is little information available. At this point, it's known that the 2012 BMW 6 Series will feature a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 unit developing 402 hp which all are going to be sent to the rear wheels.
The new 2012 BMW 6 Series is also expected to spawn a new M6 version.
