The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, which is the Bavarian carmaker's first four-door coupe, was revealed last weekend. The new four-door 6-Series is based on BMW's Gran Coupe concept, which was unveiled back in April last year. The third version of BMW's 6-Series is going to be a rival for the Mercedes CLS and the Audi A7. With a choice between three powerful engines, and an elegant look, the 6 Series Gran Coupe will definitely steal some customers from the other two German premium brands.
BMW defines the 6-Series Gran Coupe as a 4+1 seater, meaning there isn't much space in the back for a third person.
Measuring 5,007 mm in length and with a 2,968 mm wheelbase, the new four-door 6-Series promises plenty of interior space and a decent luggage capacity. With the rear seats up, the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe has 460 liters of boot space. By folding them down, you can increase the boot volume to 1,265 liters.
Some of the design highlights of the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe include the electroplated bars between the air intake and foglamps, the headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights, and the rear LED light clusters.
The new 6-Series also feature the "Gran Coupe” lettering on the C-pillar and a full-length third brake light above the rear window.
The interior of the BMW Gran Coupe is pretty much the same as the one of the regular 6 Series (coupe / convertible).
The standard equipment list of BMW's Gran Coupe includes Electric Power Steering and Dynamic Damper Control. Optionally, BMW is offering Integral Active Steering and Adaptive Drive. The Gran Coupe is rear-wheel-drive, but BMW is offering the xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system as an option on the 650i version of the four-door coupe.
To reduce the weight of the Gran Coupe, BMW made its doors, bonnet and spring supports from aluminum. The Gran Coupe also comes with thermoplastic front side panels, and a glass fiber composite boot lid.
