After revealing a hybrid version of the E Class, the Mercedes specialists from Brabus also revealed today at the 2011 IAA Frankfurt auto show an electric version of the same model. Not only that it's electric, the new Brabus E Class is also equipped with a 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system. The new electric E class features four motors, similar to the ones of the Brabus Hybrid, which power one wheel each. Each electric hub motor of the Brabus Electric Mercedes E Class weighs 31 kg (68 pounds) and fits in the 19-inch rims of the aftermarket specialist. Each electric motor has a peak power output of 80 kW in sport mode and 50 kW in Eco mode, together with 800 Nm of torque. Adding the numbers, we end up with 320 kW of power and a massive 3,200 Nm (2360 lb-ft) of torque.

That's more than twice than what the Brabus Rocket is capable of.

The Brabus Electric Mercedes E Class is 2,190 kg (4,828 pounds) heavier than a regular E Class, but it can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 220 km/h (137 mph). Brabus says that their electric E Class has a range of up to 350 km (217 miles) if you manage to keep it at a constant speed of 100 km/h (62 mph).

Apart from the completely new powertrain, The new Brabus electric E Class also comes with a bespoke aerodynamics kit, a new suspension system, an upgraded interior and better brakes.

The Brabus Electric Mercedes E Class price has not been announced, since it's currently a prototype and it's not for sale.
