Chevrolet revealed at the 2014 LA auto show the Chaparral 2X Vision concept, which is going to be featured in the Gran Turismo 6 video game on PlayStation 3. The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X VGT is powered by a 671-kW laser, which in turn, is juiced by lithium-ion batteries and an air-powered generator. The total output of the Chevrolet Chaparral 2X VGT is rated at 900 hp. According to Chevrolet, this space-age concept is able to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 1.5 seconds and it can reach a top speed of 240 mph. As you can imagine, Chevrolet presented the Chaparral 2X VGT as a design concept in LA. It is not functional. However, you'll be able to enjoy it inside the GranTurismo 6 video game. The propulsion system of the Chevrolet Chaparral 2X VGT is inspired by current research in the field of space travel.
Apparently, scientists are currently working on a similar propulsion system for future space vehicles.
The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X VGT is one of the few Vision Gran Turismo concepts to be built at a real life scale.
