On June 27, with driver Jim Mero at the wheel, the Corvette ZR1 managed a Nurburgring record lap time of 7:26.4. After the record lap Jim Mero said that in some sections he felt he could have been faster. Could we see a better lap time in the future?
General Motors says the Corvette ZR1 used for the run was completely standard, except for the communications and safety equipment. They shoed the Corvette ZR1 with production Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires that have been developed especially for this car and have very good wet traction and wear.
