The De Tomaso brand has recently came back on the market and has already launched a new model. The SLC sedan / crossover is the De Tomaso's comeback model, which will enter production sometime next year. Recently, a new prototype was caught on camera while leaving the factory gates. Most sources believe this camouflaged sports car is the successor of the Pantera, which was very popular during the 1970-1991 period.

The original De Tomaso Pantera was powered by a large 5.8-liter engine with an output of 330 hp. Even though these figures don't look like much these days, the Pantera was quite a supercar in its time. The 1971 De Tomaso Pantera could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.5 seconds.

This new De Tomaso Pantera model could be a modern supercar. Judging from the sound of its engine, we bet it packs quite a punch.

We'll have more details on De Tomaso's new Pantera as soon as they're available. Meanwhile, watch the prototype in action in the spy video after the jump.
