Ferrari CascoRosso Concept

 »  »  »

The Ferrari CascoRosso concept is Dejan Hristov's vision of a two seater commercial car that wears the Prancing Horse badge. Dejan's inspiration for the CascoRosso came from Ferrari's motorsport models throughout the years. The main model to spawn the Ferrari CascoRosso is the 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO. In fact, the CascoRosso aims to be a modern incarnation of the classic GTO. In case you were not aware of this, Ferrari is celebrating this year the GTO's 50th anniversary. The Ferrari CascoRosso was envisioned as the successor of the current F12 Berlinetta. This means it has a front-engine rear-wheel-drive architecture. The CascoRosso comes with a hybrid powertrain that features a battery located behind the seats. Instead of the side mirrors, the CascoRosso features two video cameras.

We could never understand the purpose of replacing the side mirrors with video cameras. The driver’s natural instinct is to turn the head and look in the mirrors, not to look in the center of the dashboard on some display...

Other interesting design features of the Ferrari CascoRosso include headlights hidden behind shutters (they open only when required), and a special door opening mechanism that doesn't require much space for use.
