Ferrari Sergio: Specs, Performance

Ferrari revealed recently the Sergio, which is a very special edition version of the 458 Spider. Ferrari plans to build just six units of the Sergio, and, as you're probably imagining, all of them have been sold already. Ferrari did not disclose the Sergio's price. The Ferrari Sergio was designed by Pininfarina. Each one of the six units has been personalized by Ferrari's Tailor Made atelier in Maranello according to their owners' specifications. The first Ferrari Sergio was unveiled in Abu Dhabi at the Yas Marina Circuit. Ferrari built the Sergio to celebrate their 60 year collaboration with the Cambiano company. The Ferrari Sergio is powered by the 4.5-liter V8 engine that, according to the official specs, develops 605 hp. This is 35 hp more than the base 458 Spider.

In terms of performance, the Ferrari Sergio is able to accelerate from zero to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 3.0 seconds. This is 0.4 seconds faster than the open-top 458, which is quite a lot. We doubt that just the extra 35 hp can make for such a gain in performance. The optimized aerodynamics and possibly a reduced weight are also a factor in this equation.

In comparison to the 458, the Ferrari Sergio comes with a few differences. These include a new roll-bar, which is modern take on the classic Ferrari flying buttress and negative rear window. Integrated into the roll-bars are the air intakes for clutch and gearbox oil cooling. In terms of design, the changes are obvious.
