Fiat 500L Gets Large

 »  »  »

Fiat is offering today a preview of the 500L, which will have its world premiere at the 2012 Geneva auto show. Are you wondering what's the "L" for? Fiat says it comes from "Large", because the 500L is actually a 500 transformed into a small MPV / SUV. The Fiat 500L measures 414 cm in length, 178 cm in width and 166 cm in height and, as its manufacturer says, can carry five passengers. With more generous dimensions than the regular 500, the Fiat 500L was developed for customers who want functionality, as well as good looks. Fiat says that the 500L manages to combine the interior space of an MPV, with the feel of an SUV in a B-segment package.

At launch, Fiat will sell the 500L with a choice between the TwinAir and the 1.4-litre petrol engines.

For those of you looking for a diesel, there will be the 500L 1.3 MultiJet II, which is powered by a turbodiesel engine.

The 500L will go on sale across Europe from the last quarter of 2012. Its price list has not been announced yet.
